A note from our Chef, Geoff Hughes

A village pub needs a reliable and genuine food offering. We really hope our menus do a good job in providing sustenance for a range of social situations and sometimes just because you are hungry.

Having spent a tad north of 40 years in kitchens – mostly of my own free will – I am pleased to report that I am really enjoying my cooking at the Docks and sincerely hope you are too.

If you are expecting your plate to a symphony of flavours with food arranged at precarious angles and rakishly decorated with gaily coloured froth, prepare to be a little underwhelmed. Our food philosophy is simple – buy well, treat the produce with respect and only burn the brûlées.

As we make almost everything we serve in-house, it is normally easy to adapt our dishes to deal with dietary requirements, allergies and simple dislikes.

Our menus change or evolve on a daily basis. There are always old faithfuls supported by seasonal and market produce. I’m told the homemade ice cream is particularly good!
